kindle? no, gracias :: kindle? no, thanks

Este es el kiosco portátil creado por Amazon.com. Das tu tarjeta de crédito y te mandan (por conexión gratuita) aquellos libros, revistas y periódicos a los que te hayas suscrito. Todo llega en pocos segundos, los periódicos puntuales, y caben decenas de volúmenes. Permite señalar las páginas en las esquinas, subrayar frases, e incluso clicar en palabras para acceder a un diccionario y a la Wikipedia. El concepto es bueno pero no me gusta nada por 4 razones:
1) es un diseño tosco y mazacote propio de los años 80
2) la pantalla no es táctil y es en blanco y negro
3) no tiene conexión a internet, ni permite meter música (¿¿otro aparato más para llevar??).
Aunque seguramente todo se irá perfeccionando, el problema es el concepto del aparato. Y ese es el punto 4:

Un libro NO son sólo palabras para matar el rato. Un libro es papel (amarillo, blanco, con manchas de humedad), es olor, es tipografía, son las ilustraciones de El Principito, las letras capitulares de La Historia Interminable, planos y mapas de ciudades, los libros para niños (los mejores), un libro de bolsillo, o grueso y con cubierta de piel, protegido en papel de periódico o de seda, con las esquinas dobladas, con frases marcadas en azul. Con una dedicatoria.

Un libro es, al fin y al cabo, ese objeto de deseo que, al terminar, cerramos y sobre cuya tapa yo (más gente, seguro) pasa la mano de forma inconsciente como una caricia.

Kindle is Amazon's wireless reading device. Previously you have given your credit card number, and in a matter of seconds, those publications you've subscribed to, arrive (via a free connection) to your Kindle. It allows to mark pages, emphasize phrases, and even click words and access a dictionary and the Wikipedia. The concept is good but I do not like it for 4 reasons: 1) It's designed like an 80s gadget: big and square./ 2) the screen is not tactile, and it's black and white/ 3) it has no internet connection, nor any mp3 player. Surely all this will get polished, but there's a main problem, which is reason number 4: A book is not a bunch of letters.
A book is paper, is scent, is the format of each collection, the drawings of The Little Prince, the capitular letters of the Never Ending Story, maps of cities and battles, children's books (the best ones).A paperback, or thick with leather jacket, protected in silk or newspaper paper, with words underlined, and a dedication.
A book is, in short, that object of desire which, after having finished it reading, I close and softly caress its cover with my hand.
